Esteban G Villanueva is a beauty editor and communications strategist whose work bridges editorial storytelling and industry leadership. As the first-ever male Beauty Editor for Vogue, he has played a pivotal role in shaping beauty narratives across Europe, blending cultural commentary with trend forecasting and strategic insight.
With a background in communications strategy and beauty editorial, Esteban began his career as a consultant, advising brands on communication strategies and editorial positioning. His expertise led him to Vogue Scandinavia, where he redefined the region’s beauty coverage through a fresh, narrative-driven approach.
Expanding beyond editorial, Esteban took on the role of Global Beauty Director at the Spalt Group, overseeing brand strategy and communications for some of the most prestigious names in the industry, including Estée Lauder, MAC Cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Kevin Murphy, Rabanne, Jo Malone, Clinique, and Sephora. His work in this space is defined by a deep understanding of beauty as both a commercial and cultural force, shaping how brands engage with media and consumers alike.
Alongside his role at Spalt, Esteban is the contributing Beauty Editor for Vogue Portugal, where he curates print beauty edits and pens op-eds exploring the intersection of beauty, mental health, and emerging trends. Whether through editorial storytelling or brand strategy, his work is driven by a singular belief: beauty is not just about aesthetics—it is a reflection of identity, artistry, and cultural evolution. As well as Vogue Portugal, he collaborates with other magazines like Wonderland and Man About Town.
